The exam

What is the AB-410 exam?

AB-410 is the Microsoft Intelligent Applications Builder credential — the role-based exam for makers who build AI-powered business solutions in Microsoft Power Platform using Copilot, natural-language prompts and low-code tools. AB-410 covers laying the foundation (solution design, environments, ALM and the Dataverse data model), creating the applications themselves (model-driven and canvas apps, including generative pages built from a written description), and building the logic and automation behind them (cloud flows, AI Hub prompts and AI Builder models, business rules and process flows). It is the successor route for makers who previously targeted PL-200 — Microsoft replaced the PL-200T00 course with AB-410T00.

AB-410 is hands-on and maker-shaped. It validates that you can turn stated requirements into the right component — a model-driven app, a canvas app, a cloud flow, a Power Pages site or an agent — then model the data in Dataverse, compose the app, and wire up the logic. Expect scenario questions that hand you a requirement and a constraint (must hold on every write path, must not block the save, must reach a service outside Dataverse) and ask which mechanism fits. Power Fx, prompt columns, generative pages, and the difference between calculated, rollup and formula columns all recur.

Microsoft's AB-410 study guide was last updated on 15 May 2026. Every question in Azure Mastery's AB-410 bank is mapped to that current three-domain outline and was reviewed against it in August 2026. Read the official Microsoft study guide.

Create a foundation for intelligent applications25–30%

Explore key topics

The design and data layer. Analyse requirements to identify the right components, evaluate built-in agents, recommend extensibility options, choose environment types, and apply a solution and ALM strategy. Then build the data model in Dataverse: tables in the data workspace, standard tables and table properties, columns and data types, relationships, prompt columns, row summaries, public views, main forms and security.

Create intelligent applications25–30%

Explore key topics

The application layer. For model-driven apps: configure forms and views, create generative pages from a natural-language description, compose the app and its site map, control access to forms, views and the app itself, and build charts and dashboards. For canvas apps: bind data, design for accessibility, performance and responsiveness, create reusable components and component libraries, work with named formulas and user-defined functions, manage variables and collections, implement error handling, and test with Monitor.

Build business application logic and automation40–45%

Explore key topics

The largest domain, and where the exam concentrates. Build cloud flows: recommend triggers, evaluate connectors, manage approvals, configure actions, and implement conditions and loops, then test and troubleshoot them. Create and consume prompts in AI Hub — from templates or blank, with inputs, knowledge grounding and model settings — and consume AI Builder models in both apps and flows. Implement business rules, business process flows, and calculated, rollup and formula columns.

Designed for AB-410

How Azure Mastery helps you pass AB-410

Azure Mastery ships with 420 AB-410 practice questions mapped to the current published skills outline. Each question carries a domain tag mapped to the official three domains (foundation, applications, logic and automation), so you always know which area you're being tested on and where your weak spots are clustered. Dataverse modelling decisions, Power Fx expressions, generative-page scenarios and prompt-grounding setups appear throughout.

The on-device Exam IQ engine predicts your AB-410 score before you sit the exam. After roughly 30 questions it has enough signal to give a confidence-scored prediction (e.g. "786 ±37, 68% confidence") — and tells you the specific topics that are dragging your readiness down. No vague "study more" advice; just a ranked list of objectives where improvement would move your score the furthest.

The adaptive study plan rebuilds itself from your answer history. Get a scenario question wrong? The engine surfaces another question in the same domain in your next session. Master a topic across three sessions and it backs off, prioritising the next-highest-leverage gap. The plan optimises for the gap between where you are and the 700 pass score, not for blind volume.

Knowledge decay tracking matters more for AB-410 than for foundational exams — three broad domains contain a lot to retain, and the topic you mastered three weeks into your study window is the topic you'll forget by exam day if you stop revising. Azure Mastery tracks every topic's decay curve and flags topics approaching expiry. The padlock icon on the Today screen is your "revisit before you forget" cue, and weak-spot drills automatically pull from decayed topics first.

Exam simulation mode uses the current AB-410 timing: a randomised 40–60-question set drawn from the full 420-question bank, weighted by the three published domain percentages, with a 120-minute timer. It recreates exam-length practice inside Azure Mastery; the live proctored interface and exact question mix are controlled by Microsoft and may differ.

Answer Coach turns each missed answer into a private, grounded lesson: the misconception, key distinction, and rule to remember. It always uses authored certification guidance; on supported devices, an optional on-device model may rewrite the note only when it passes grounding checks.

During your first week, Aura adapts the next step as you go. Every session ends with a concise recap of what changed, what to focus on, and the best follow-up.

Everything essential runs on-device. Your answer history, readiness gauge, and coaching stay private. Optional sync uses your private iCloud account; there is no Azure Mastery account, tracking, or external processing server.

6-week study plan

Suggested AB-410 study plan

Most candidates prepare for AB-410 in four to eight weeks, depending on how much Power Platform and Dataverse experience they already have. The six-week plan below maps onto the three AB-410 domains, Azure Mastery's adaptive sessions, and the in-app exam simulator. Adjust the pace to your background — the readiness gauge tells you when you're done, not the calendar.

  1. Plan and configure

    • Week 1: Create a foundation — analyse requirements to pick the right component, evaluate built-in agents, recommend extensibility options and environment types, and apply a solution and ALM strategy.
    • Week 2: Build the data model — tables in the data workspace, columns and data types, relationships, prompt columns, row summaries, public views, main forms and Dataverse security.
  2. Integrate and extend

    • Week 3: Create intelligent applications — model-driven forms and views, generative pages built from a written description, app composition and the site map, charts and dashboards.
    • Week 4: Canvas apps — data sources, accessibility and performance, reusable components and component libraries, named formulas and user-defined functions, variables and collections, error handling, testing with Monitor.
  3. Test, manage, sharpen, simulate

    • Week 5: Build business logic and automation (largest domain, 40–45%) — cloud flow triggers, connectors, approvals, actions, conditions and loops; AI Hub prompts and AI Builder models; business rules, business process flows, and calculated, rollup and formula columns.
    • Week 6: Run Focus Weak Spots every morning, then two end-to-end Exam Simulator runs at full 120-minute length. Schedule the exam when readiness gauge is 750+ with reasonable confidence.

Frequently asked

AB-410 FAQs

How much does the AB-410 exam cost?

Microsoft Associate exams typically cost USD $165, but pricing, currency, and taxes vary by country or region. Check the price shown when scheduling AB-410 through Microsoft Learn before purchasing. The certification must be renewed annually through Microsoft's free online renewal process.

Does the AB-410 certification expire?

Yes. Microsoft Associate certifications including AB-410 expire annually. Renewal is free through a short, unproctored online assessment on Microsoft Learn during the six-month eligibility window before expiration. Microsoft does not promise a fixed question count. (Fundamentals certifications such as AZ-900 are different — those don't expire.)

What is the AB-410 retake policy if I fail?

The first retake is allowed after 24 hours. Second and third retakes each require a 14-day wait. Microsoft caps retakes at five attempts per 12-month rolling period. Each attempt requires a new voucher purchase.

How long should I study for AB-410?

Allow four to eight weeks of focused study if you already build apps and flows in Microsoft Power Platform. Spend longer if Dataverse modelling, Power Fx, model-driven app design, or AI Builder prompts are new to you. Azure Mastery's readiness gauge helps you decide when to schedule the exam.

AB-410 vs AB-620 — which builder cert?

Different surfaces. AB-410 is the Intelligent Applications Builder cert: you build Power Platform applications — Dataverse data models, model-driven and canvas apps, cloud flows — that consume agents, prompts, and AI models. AB-620 is the AI Agent Builder cert, focused on designing and extending the agents themselves in Microsoft Copilot Studio. AB-410 builds the application around the agent; AB-620 builds the agent. Many makers hold both.

AB-410 vs PL-900 — which should I take first?

PL-900 first if Microsoft Power Platform is new to you. PL-900 is the Power Platform Fundamentals exam and stays conceptual — what Power Apps, Power Automate and Dataverse are for. AB-410 is the role-based exam where you configure the real artefacts: tables and relationships, forms and views, cloud flows, and AI Hub prompts. Makers new to the platform often use PL-900 as a foundation before AB-410.

Is Azure Mastery free for AB-410 prep?

The app is free to download and includes a free allowance of AB-410 questions so you can try every feature. The full bank of 420 AB-410 practice questions unlocks with a one-time exam-pack purchase, or you can unlock every exam in the catalogue with a subscription or a one-time lifetime upgrade.

Does AB-410 practice work offline?

Yes. Question practice, scoring, and the readiness prediction all run on-device, so you can study on a flight or a commute with no connection. No account is required, and your study data stays on your device with optional private iCloud sync.

Is there an AB-410 practice test mode?

Yes — the exam simulator runs full-length AB-410 practice tests that mirror the real exam’s question formats and timing, including interactive item types. Adaptive study sessions and Focus Weak Spots then target the domains where your accuracy is lowest.
